Software providers like Valley Agricultural Software (VAS) are taking formerly desktop-based, single application solutions and providing business-wide platforms that provide real-time access to web-based intelligence via mobile devices, tablets and computers. These programs tie together all the variables that go into milk production in a single platform from the feed to the cow to the parlor providing actionable intelligence that allows today's dairy farmer to make decisions when it will have the greatest impact on production: now.

Upwards of 60 percent of the cost of producing milk resides in feed. The supply, the mix, the labor. And, depending on the dairy, feeder compensation may be dependent in-part on their performance each day. Real-time access to feed data via mobile devices can drive a number of efficiencies in the feeding process and encourage better performance by the labor on hand to drive down operational costs.

What does IT Helpdesk Technician do exactly here at VAS?

The IT Helpdesk Technician helps to maintain the usability of the customers' information technology (IT) hardware assets. In many situations, this means working with desktop and laptop computers, cell phones, tablets, etc. to ensure they operate effectively and efficiently. They work to help resolve technical operation problems to keep our customers working at optimal levels.

  • Provides basic troubleshooting assistance and ticket resolution for personal computer users.
  • Supports computer users with installation of basic hardware/software and networking components to meet personal computer needs.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots basic problems with individual or multiple computer systems to maintain proper functioning; resolves issues including contacting and assisting vendors.
  • Recommends hardware solutions regarding personal computers in assigned areas.
  • Assists with computer studies, projects, and implementation of policies throughout area of assignment.
  • Conducts diagnostic reviews and produces error reports as requested by customers to identify and correct any problems.
  • Provide recommendations for problem resolution
  • Explain complex technical issues to customers in a non-technical, simple to understand manner
  • Provide repair / replacement estimates to customers
  • Ensure that all repairs meet or exceed quality standards
  • Greet customers in a friendly and helpful manner and maintain a positive work environment
  • Answer phone calls and respond to customer emails in the same manner
  • Ensure that customers have an enjoyable experience by providing superior customer service and exceeding customer expectations

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will have 1 to 2 years' experience working in a similar roles or capacity.

Alma Mater! Education preferred for this position is a two-year degree in the field of technology or equivalent education and experience.

        Experience working with personal computer hardware, software, systems, local area networks and terminology.

        Good organizational and problem-solving skills.

        Ability to operate computer peripherals including monitors, printers and scanners. Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair devices

  • Ability to repair all makes and models of computers, cell phones and tablets
  • Have attention to detail and be able to follow directions
  • A+ Certification preferred
